After working an amazing amount of overtime (to pay off the "rent renewal" ripoff scheme) I wasn't too enthusiastic about fixing my own internet last night - so please refer to the top of the page if you have a problem with this.

I'll post a nice picture a little later - feel free to make your own suggestions in the replies Smile

News: Happy New Year!!!!
Posted: Ewok @ Tue Jan 15, 2008 11:46 pm
Sorry about the recent downtime!

I hope you all had a fun holiday, and are enjoying being back at work... hah, yeah right Rolling Eyes

I'll keep it short, but I decided to reset my router in order to make some changes. Then I realised I didn't have the password for the internet connection, and my ISP wanted to snail-mail a new one (taking several days), and at a 500yen fee to me.

I told the guy where to stick his crappy customer service.

Saori's father passed away the next morning, with which a Japanese funeral marathon began - which I thought was a fantastic service - and I'm just home now to fix things Smile

Enjoy! Comment! Questions JT's drinking habits! Wink

News: End of Year News
Posted: Ewok @ Thu Dec 06, 2007 3:48 pm
Well its almost the end of 2007, and around 10months since Expat started. We've amassed almost 400 authentic users and a shocking number of posts Smile

I've abandoned the plan to move Expat to a bigger faster server - to be honest this one does perfectly well, but I will be making continual tweaks and adjustments to keep things moving smoothly.

Next year I'm going to be looking at ways of expanding the site, getting more participation by users (we have many readers, and not as many contributors) and trying to make things more social around here. There seems to be much hostility when you look at Japan related online forums, but we've been able to keep that to a minimum here which I've really been happy with.

So keep on posting, and see you in 2008!
