News: That was... weird

I think I pushed the wrong button
Should be OK now. I've started buying parts to build a new PC, my current PC will be retired and become the new server. Once thats done I'll look at upgrading the forums software, not sure what I'll use at this point.

Good News! Email is finally working 100%
Much apologies for not having it working right for so long - hopefully now we have far less issues. People signing up will not get their confirmation instantly and I'll be writing a nice little newsletter in the next week to send to all of our users.
Thank you for your patience, and feel free to PM each other like crazy and get email notifications!

News: Upgrades Round 2
Posted: Ewok @ Mon May 11, 2009 12:06 pm
The server has been a little flakey lately so I'm going to rearrange the virtual server setup.
The changeover will also mean that there will be two servers providing the site so it will take two failures to take the site down completely
This should also mean better performance, but to be honest the site seems fairly snappy already - any comments about speed here at EJN?
For those who care I'm planning to split the current single Ubuntu LAMP up into two Apache servers and eventually two MySQL server, with something like squid sitting at the front to do load balancing. Thats 5 virtual servers - I'm thinking I'll need one more to act as a file/backup server so I'll be building 6 new servers on the new Ubuntu 9.04
