so, I have a company interested in some ideas of mine, but the CEO won't set a date for our meeting. First she was out of the country, now she's back at work and (I guess) up to her eyeballs.
Should I invite her for dinner? This would be the first time I've ever been in this position.
I want to be proactive and tenacious, as those qualities are sought within the company. |

Is is a Japanese company _________________ Most important to an understanding of Rule 34 is that it is NEVER breakable. Whatever it is, there will always be porn of it somewhere. This is underscored by Rule 35 stating that, if porn cannot be found of it, it must be created. |

It's a US-based company, that operates out of Tokyo.

Well there are a number of things to consider I guess but then we as posters can only make assumptions here since your post is short on details.
1. You mention"ideas." Is your projected project only in the ideas stage or did you make an actual proposal?
2. If only in the ideas stage, it may be the CEO's way of saying no thank you by not making an appointment.
3. How many times have you asked for an appointment? If only once or twice, then why not try again?
4. Is she the actual decision maker? This is a key point. It is possible that some else in the office is the decision maker and you may be talking to the wrong person even though she is the CEO.
5. If someone else were the decision maker, then she would normally rely on that person's input.
6. Would inviting her out to dinner, send the wrong signal? I think you should think this through a little more.
I only pose the questions above so that you should ask yourself. An actual on-line response is not that necessary but if you can share other information with posters, then you may get a wider range of responses to think about. _________________ Shove it where the sun don't shine! |

1. It's an actual proposal, but I haven't gone into detail as yet, and need to see what their thoughts are, if giving the green light to the whole thing.
2. Yeah I kinda figured that, but this woman has a reputation for straight talking so would have hoped that any refusal was made clear from the start.
3. Just twice currently, there's being tenacious, and there's being a pain in the ass. I guess a third time wouldn't hurt, but I need to phrase it correctly, was hoping for some input from this esteemed forum.
4. Far as I can see, she runs the whole shebang, though I admit I had not asked who would be the decision maker - I felt that could be construed as being disrespectful - if you were the CEO, wouldn't you simply delegate a subordinate to attend the meeting and report back?
5. see above
6. I guess she doesn't play golf......sure, I know exactly what you mean, and agree 100%. Just trying to think of a carrot, given her situation.
I am kinda wondering if it might be worth contacting her thru LinkedIn, or FB, to more closely integrate myself with her network. I feel somewhat uncomfortable about the FB network though........we have a couple of shared connections.
Thanks for the comments there Richard. |

Any Starbucks will do and they can speak passable English there usually. _________________ Shove it where the sun don't shine! |

That's true though I had to admit to the girl behind the counter at Nagoya airport that I didn't understand her because I didn't speak Starbucks. _________________ My fear is that heaven may be sort of geospecific.
